Book Review-Fall Like a Rose Petal (A Father's Lessons on How to be Happy and Content While Living without Money)

Title- Fall Like a Rose Petal

(A Father's Lessons on How to be Happy and Content While Living without Money)
Author- AVS Vishwanathan
Publisher-Westland
Genre- Non Fiction

The Blurb- In early 2008, the author AVIS Viswanathan and Vaani his soul-mate, friend, wife and business partner were staring at a bankruptcy of their Firm. A series of business decisions had literally brought them to the brink of penury, This book is their story, it captures learnings from this excruciatingly painful, Life-changing, phase that they are still going through.

It also explores the nature and continuum of Life. There is no beginning to the story, There is no end either, There are simply experiences, of hopelessness, of fear, of insolvency, of pennilessness and also of faith, patience, love, companionship, abundance and soul, of integrity and of leading a principled Life, despite temptations to take the easy way out of painful or messy situations.

This book has been written to share how AVIS and his family have learned to be happy despite their circumstances. You too can benefit from their learning and experience and discover the right way of thinking, living, working and winning in Life for yourself!

My View-   The book starts with a foreword and all the chapters are real life experiences of the author himself. The book deals with the situation one faces while passing through the worst phase of life with no money left and even your closed ones stop trusting you.

It talks about different challenges that life may give and an experience that can act as learning as well as an anecdote from which one can get inspired and gain confidence.

The plot is simple yet effective. The chapters are small and are actually the excerpts from the diary which he author writes for his son and daughter.

The best part of the book is it doesn't preach, instead it tells what actually happened and a probable reason behind every happening. It's not philosophy but the reality of life. You get the essence of the chapter with its title itself.

The chapters which I like the most were-

1. Chapter 6- What Goes Around Comes Around
--- giving a simple strong message do good to others and good will come to you.

2. Chapter 9- Celebrate Life
---- which teaches us something about importance of home and living at the moment. Money, Power, position are all materialistic and temporary.

3. Chapter 11- Rise in Love
---which deals with love. It tells us that your love for someone is true and it should never change for someone based on opportunity, age, physical factors, labels and money.
I believe if you truly love someone it can only increase and become deeper with time.

This book is definitely not for someone who wants to read great philosphy but for those who wants to learn with experiences.

At some places I felt that the author has exaggerated the things a bit but then as the book claims it may feel so but these are the facts so I trust the authenticity of the situations mentioned.

About the AuthorAVIS Vishwanathan-full name Anand Vishwanathan is a happiness curator, Life Coach, inspired speaker, author and organizational transformation consultant who leads change management, culture and leadership development mandates in the corporate sector globally. He is currently a principal consultant at a v initiatives, a Specialist Consulting Firm that inspires workplace happiness.

The Final Verdict Its a book which requires time to read and understand. It will definitely connect to masses in some way or the other. I rate this book 4.5/5
